According to Bondy, this title "belongs to the best-loved miniature books, and was obviously much treasured by our Victorian ancestors." At least 34 editions were published in England, making it the most common miniature book of the first half of the 19th Century and demonstrating how important private devotional texts were for ordinary Victorian Christian people.  The earlier editions are less commonly found today.
